By 2025, Singapore has continued to improve its Baby Bonus Scheme so that parents could have a more immediate financial aid when they shelter their children in a much costly world. As costs to raise children increase and the country tries to persuade more people to have children, the new offer contains larger cash payments and more favourable incentives of saving. Firstly, the Baby Bonus 2025 is to help first-time parents in making sense by aiding at birth and during early childhood development.
What Is the Baby Bonus Scheme
The Baby Bonus Scheme belongs to the Marriage and Parenthood Package imposed in order to alleviate the financial pressure of bringing up children in Singapore. It consists of two provisions: Baby Bonus Cash Gift, and Child Development Account (CDA). Collectively, they offer direct cash and matching contributions to assist with covering cost of early childhood.
Cash Gift Breakdown for 2025
For children born on or after 14 February 2023, parents can receive up to S$11,000 in cash payouts. The disbursement is spread across key milestones:
- At birth: S$3,000
- At 6 and 12 months: S$1,500 each
- At 15 and 18 months: S$1,000 each
- At 24 months: S$3,000
These payouts are automatically credited to the Child Savings Account (CSA) linked to the CDA.
Child Development Account (CDA) Benefits
The CDA is an special co-savings account with a dollar-by-dollar matching of savings by the government. The First Step Grant in the year 2025 will be S$5,000 and S$10,000 per child to the first two children, and subsequent child. Depending on the birth-order and savings, parents may enjoy a maximum total CDA benefits of S$15,000.
Eligibility and Registration
In order to qualify, the child must hold Singapore Citizenship and be a resident of Singapore with an age of birth on or after 1 January 2009, and one who is married legally. It is registered through MSF Baby Bonus Portal and a CDA should be opened at DBS/POSB, OCBC or UOB. The cash gift does not require a separate application though registration is done.
